Silk Road Museum Masterplan

The project area, situated on the bank of the Huangpu River, is part of the ancient   route  known as the "Silk  Road".  

The client intention is to create a museum that features three themes:  the Silk Road, Ceramics and Chinese tradition.

In addition, the whole area will be redeveloped with the inclusion of other strategic buildings; 2 office towers, 6  residential towers,  a hotel and a shopping  village.

To emphasize the importance of the museum,  located in the central area,  the surrounding terrain is excavated, creating an artificial island.  

In front of it there is the main access point that accommodates the square, intended as a meeting place for the community.

The shape of these volumes is inspired by the ancient Chinese oven used for firing ceramics.
